One of the most unusal things that has happened to me was when an elderly man tried getting approved for a mortgage using his dead mother's SS#.  The credit report came back saying the person was deceased.  I thought it was just a mistake and he pretended like it was too.  I paid to have a report done to try to straighten out the mistake and that's when I found out about the fraud attempt.  He then remembered that he had mistakenly given me the wrong number.  When I pulled with his correct SS#, it was obvious why he was trying the scam.  His FICO was in the 500's...
